The Summer Huckleberry Harvest Is an Important Tradition for This Indigenous Tribe in Oregon

The wiwinu, or huckleberry, is a conventional meals for the Indigenous Warm Springs tribe of north-central Oregon. Just about every August, its customers set out in lookup of huckleberry bushes to select, harvesting a bounty for the community’s annual feast that celebrates the fruit. Wiwinu (Huckleberries), by Brutis Baez, a winner of Eddie Bauer’s One particular Outside Film Grant, tells the tale of wiwinu and why the berry has remained significant for Warm Springs persons today.
